MS Dhoni Global School Bengaluru, one of the first schools in India to partner with Microsoft through its showcase school programme, organised a mega inaugural event for digitally training 1,000 teachers and 1,00,000 lakh students over the next one year on October 10, 2022. Ace cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is also the mentor of this school, visited the school and flagged off the digital literacy program that aims to offer digital education on Microsoft education tools to the teachers and the students.
In association with Tech Avante-Garde – the largest global training partner for Microsoft, the programme intends to cover the training of 1,000 teachers on Microsoft 365 – a line of subscription services offered by Microsoft that includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and 30 other applications. It will also help and guide these teachers to train a lakh of students from across various government and tier 2 and tier 3 private schools. The objective of this digital literacy program is to make these students digitally sound and technologically capable enough to seek employment across various sectors.
The event was preceded with the inauguration, clubbed with the auspicious Lamp Lighting ceremony, welcoming of MS Dhoni by the school management and board members – R. Chandrasekar, founder and chairman of the MS Dhoni Global School, correspondent Bhuvaneswari Chandrasekar, Vineeth Chandrasekar, director – admin and operations, Deepitha, director – HR, and Vishnu Gaurav Selvaraj, director – IT. This was followed by a motivational interaction between MS Dhoni and the students who were left inspired by the charismatic personality of the renowned Cricketer.
At the occasion, Chandrasekar said: “In order for technology to improve education, schools must consider the total environment and fully understand the learning ecosystem. Barriers present in the ecosystem must be illuminated and appropriate technology-based solutions must be applied to overcome those barriers and thereby assist educational organizations in achieving their goals. Digital Literacy Program, as well as initiatives in global information technology standards, provide a broad range of capabilities for improving the learning ecosystem. We have decided to empower 1000 Techers and One Lac students by training them on Digital Literacy and O365 in association with Tech Avant-Garde, award winning Global Training Partner of Microsoft, this will make our society Future Ready.”
Speaking about the digital literacy program, Ali Sait, CEO, Tech Avant-Garde, said: “We will be training 1,000 teachers on digital literacy. They will go ahead and train one lakh students across private and government schools. Following the training, both the teachers and the students will get certified by Microsoft. Today, anybody with digital literacy certification are employable, be it in a bank, or billing counters in the store or in any other company. Digital literacy can open up endless opportunities in future for these children. However, most of the government schools and tier 2 and 3 private schools do not have adequate infrastructure for proper digital Skill education. That’s why we are empowering these students to give them a better future.”
Dhoni was also taken on a campus tour who was appreciative of the school’s infrastructure, facilities, the environmentally conscious approach adopted in the construction and the design of the school’s building and the safe ergonomically designed german furniture on campus. He also visited other facilities and features provided to the students like the robotics lab, CS lab, Science lab, music room, dance studio, the amphitheatre, the football, tennis and basketball grounds.
MS Dhoni was highly impressed with the digital literacy initiative and believed that it would play a significant role in impacting and transforming young lives.
