Mt. Abu Public School bags Green School Award & Pryavaran Mitra Puruskar

According to an official release on August 31, Mount Abu Public School, Sector 5 Rohini, has been felicitated with the Green School Award by Gobar Times and the Pryavaran Mitra Puruskar by the Ministry of Environment, Government of India. The awards are in recognition of the school’s committed efforts towards fostering sensitivity towards the environment and nurturing environment crusaders of tomorrow.
The school strongly believes and advocates the fact that young learners are the agents of change and need to be prepared for the future challenges and equipped for strategies that can help in environment conservation.

The school has taken several initiatives such as creating leaders that care for environment through enterprises such as “Foil Magic” and “Herbs N Cures” operated by the students. These enterprises promote conservation of bountiful nature.

The students are brought close to nature through diverse activities such as trips to botanical parks, and sapling plantation drives, among others.

The school is an active member of Compassionate Citizen Project that conducts activities designed to help the young learners understand and appreciate animals.

Fully functional Eco Club in the school conducts diverse activities that are aimed at conserving and safeguarding nature. Among the several initiatives undertaken by the school, the most prominent one is adoption of “Chotu Ram Park” whose maintenance has really improved since the adoption.

Besides conducting activities such as Street Plays and Slogan Writing, the school has been organising World Environment Day Celebration with the Ministry of Earth Sciences. It has published its own booklet “ECO FOCUS” that highlights the school’s commitment for promotion of Green Environment.

The school has adopted the heritage site Sheesh Mahal and the school’s eco club members regularly clean and plant the saplings to maintain its beauty. The enhancement in the greenery of the area is a sign that the relentless efforts of young environment crusaders is bearing fruit. The school has been felicitated with Blue Ranking by National School Sanitation Initiative which is an indication of school’s concern in prioritising health and hygiene.
