Namma Yatri, India’s open mobility app, has launched the “Namma Yatri Rising Stars” scholarship program to support the education of auto and cab drivers’ children in Chennai and Bengaluru. The program offers financial assistance to 10th and 12th-grade students, helping them pursue higher education.

The initiative aims to support over 500 students annually. Among the recipients is Bhavana, daughter of Siddegowda, a Namma Yatri auto driver in Bengaluru, who scored 625/625 in the SSLC exam and aspires to become an IAS officer. These scholarships alleviate financial burdens and open doors to brighter futures.

Scholarship events were held in Bengaluru and Chennai. The Bengaluru event included student presentations and a cultural program, while the Chennai event featured Mr. T. Abraham IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education, Mr. M. Arun Prakash, Founder & CEO of Guvi, and driver union leaders. Students were selected through a rigorous screening process.

N Chandrabose, an auto driver, shared how the scholarship has been a blessing, allowing his son Parthasarathy to study at IIT without financial worries. Parthasarathy expressed gratitude for the support, which enables him to focus on his studies.

Namma Yatri prioritizes driver welfare with zero-commission rides, awareness of government welfare schemes, financial education, the Mahila Shakti Program for women drivers, flexible working hours, and now educational scholarships.

Namma Yatri plans to expand the scholarship program to more cities and develop additional welfare schemes. They are open to partnerships with government bodies, non-profits, and corporations. Drivers and supporters can contact +91 9655522671 for more information.
