Overview

National Centre for Excellence, Bengaluru (NCFE) is a co-ed day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Located in Bengaluru, National Centre for Excellence was established in 2006 by Dr. N Vijaya Kumar and Padmini Vijaya Kumar under the aegis of Vijay Kiran Educational Trust and Vijay Kiran Group of Institutions.

NCFE hosts two campuses in Bengaluru: the C V Raman Nagar Campus hosts around 2300 students with a faculty of 120, while the Jeevan Bhima Nagar branch (established in 2017) hosts around 450 students.

An ISO 9001:2015 certified School and a vital part of Vijay Kiran Educational Trust, NCFE operates in pursuit of creating an environment of teamwork and stress-free learning. NCFE hosts a student population of 2750 and a parent body of 7000. The corporate team and faculty of 175 professionals facilitate educational programmes. The school endorses a student-centric teaching-learning philosophy involving active learning and game-based strategies and caters to the differently abled, dedicating specialized faculty members catering to the individual needs of the students.

Campus

The National Centre for Excellence, Bengaluru is spread over a 7.5-acre campus housing 119 spacious classrooms of 750 sq. ft equipped with ICT teaching-learning facilities, with a student strength of 25-30 in a class. The school provides laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science and ATL. The school also houses a well-stocked library with four periodicals, eight dailies, 7300 reference books and 22 magazines. Extracurricular facilities such as music and dance rooms are also available within the NCFE campus.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure also facilitates sports facilities with the sports complex providing provisions for badminton, squash, swimming (indoor pool), basketball, table tennis and so on, helping students perform both inside and outside the classrooms.

Academics

Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, National Centre for Excellence, Bengaluru provides education from classes pre-primary to XII. The NCFE academic curriculum blends face-to-face learning with interactive learning assignments and online learning activities, facilitating interactions between learner to learner, learner to instructor, and learner to community-based partners.

The curriculum and pedagogy at NCFE are designed to promote competency and outcome-based education. The pedagogy at NCFE, incorporates advanced innovation and technology with the framework of the New Educational policy (NEP) by integrating abstract concepts across subjects, thereby enabling learning across all stages. Teachers are provided with tabs to allow them to conduct distance learning efficiently, staying well-equipped to impart education in both online and offline mediums. The lessons conducted in class contain a multidisciplinary study with greater depth, critical thinking, attention to life aspirations, and greater flexibility and student choice.

The teaching and learning methods focus on the holistic development of the students. The teaching-learning process involves experiential learning that focuses on experimental, inquiry and discovery-based methods. Arts, sports, story-telling and ICT integrated pedagogy is followed. Emphasis is laid on the development of scientific temper, digital literacy, inculcation of knowledge and human values while preparing the lessons. The pedagogical process also focuses on acquiring skills in health, nutrition, physical education, fitness, wellness and sports. Age-appropriate activities are planned by the teachers through fun, creative, collaborative and exploratory activities for a deeper student-learning. The theme, play, activity-based methods implemented help the young minds to improve their language, cognitive, physical, socio-emotional and creative skills. Interactive teaching with reduced dependency on textbook learning, focus on critical thinking, discovery, discussion and analysis-based teaching and learning methods are used for the holistic education of the students.

NCFE’s learning centre comprises a group of specialists who work on Teacher Professional Development and imbibe the required best practices for the teaching- learning process.

Admission

The criterion for admission into NCFE Bengaluru is based on the term assessment grades/predicted grades from the previous school and concepts covered in the previous school.

The admission process begins with the filling up of the online application form available on the school website. This is followed by a student interaction session/admission test and a meeting with the principal and the board of management. On securing admission, parents must pay the fees and ensure the submission of the following documents in the stipulated time:

  • Previous two-year report cards
  • TC from the previous school
  • Address/ID Proof
  • Admission consent form
  • SATS TC (for Karnataka Students)

The School year is from April to March; hence it is better to be a part of the school year from the beginning. Admission is not granted beyond December of the academic year, unless in Central Government Transfer cases.

Student Achievements:

Vaibhav class X – won gold, silver and bronze medals in various state and national level events in 2019 – 2020 such as high kick, kaiporu (free hand combat), chuvudukal, stick fight, mayapattu and urumi Veesal (flexible sword waving).

Medhansh – emerged 5th out of 400+ players, scoring 6 out of 7 points in the 39th Open RAPID Chess tournament in Bangalore. His name was also featured in Times of India for the achievement.

Prathiksha Raj- played in various under-15, 16 and 17 badminton singles district-level and national championships in 2018 and 2019. She debuted in Nationals in 2019 representing Karnataka and ranked 18 all over Karnataka in the under-17 category.

Aradhan Gowda – won best swimmer award in Group-III category in Gfray Wilson Garden.

Avinash V (class X) – participated in International MUN’s (32.0, 37.0, 54.0 and 58.0) and GenSoc MUN’s and received the title of best/outstanding delegate and special mention representing various countries (France, USA and Saudi Arabia). Represented Internet MUN and received letter of recommendation from United Nations Director – India, Mr. Rajiv Chandran and the Secretary General and Director General of IMUN. Avinash also represented FamPay powered by IDFC First Bank and successfully completed the Python programming course offered by University of Michigan on Python with 100%. 

Sanjana Rajesh (class X) – a budding Bharathnatyam artiste completed her Arangetram in 2018 and recently presented her first solo production Ávartana’ with her own rhythmic compositions and choreography. She has been awarded the CCRT Scholarship – 2019, by the Ministry of Culture and Resources. Sanjana also emerged a centre topper in the Junior Dance Examination conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board and has been a major part of two popular productions of Indian Raga, a popular YouTube channel. Sanjana is trained in Carnatic vocal by Smt. Rama Vishwanath for the past six years. She is intensively getting trained in Mridangam under Shri. Vinay Nagarajan and has secured distinction in the Junior exam for Mridangam conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Board.

IEM Teachathon 2020:

Teachers of NCFE CVR participated successfully in Teachathon 2020; NCFE CVR Vice Principal Smitha Menon and HOD (Science) Vijayalakshmi Mohan were the Jury members for science sharing the platform with some of the most eminent educators across the country. NCFE CVR winners:

Kiruthiga Sivaprasath got an overall rank of 32, subject rank 8 and online teaching track 3. She was awarded with a 10000 cash prize, training by tech Mahindra, English proficiency books, Lenovo discount and CENTA’s free online teaching course.

IPN:

Mayuri Kanabar was conferred Winner in IPN India 2020 in the non-scholastic skills enhancer category. This was for the individual who focused not only on academic and scholastic skills but also focused on non-scholastic skills enhancing for the academic year 2020-21.

Ganamritam:

Kakali Ghosh, music faculty, was one of the finalists amongst the seven finalists selected for the final round. She received a trophy and other gadgets as prizes.
