National Institute of Event Management (NIEM) was formed to cater to the growing needs of the huge multi-dimensioned event management industry in India. It started as an autonomous institute to teach event management, which got overwhelming support from the media (print & satellite), event industry, entertainment industry & students. The course was started with an aim to produce trained and qualified work force for the event and entertainment industry and hence create a new class of event managers, event coordinators and consultants. In six short years, besides being the first institute in Asia to start event management as a study, NIEM has gone a long way in its achievement list. The National Institute of Event Management founded in April 2000 after a detailed four year research by Dr. Hoshi Bhiwandiwalla, winner of Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Award for excellence in education (a national honour for bringing event management as a study in India) along with a dozen other state and national level awards, has many positive credits attached to it. NIEM is associated with reputed organizations like CII, EMAI, FICCI, Ad Club, and is the only one in the country to be recognized by the International Special Events Society (ISES) and International Festival and Events Association (IFEA) and now Regency Institute of Tafe (Govt. of South Australia), also the only one to teach international events. It is the only institute to appear on foreign website for world rankings in events.
In NIEM, students are taught the technology to form event companies. NIEM has air-conditioned class rooms, use of modern teaching aids, a huge specialized event library (largest event library in India), plus a lot of simulated events. The institute offers facilities like well stocked library, internet, laboratory, well ventilated classrooms & extra curricular activities like workshop, seminar & conferences.
