Navrachana School advocates world peace in ‘Ajab Gazab Adventures of Gulliver

Performing Art at Navrachana School, Sama, Vadodara is an expression and an emotion set alive to ignite each heart! The flair rages through the stage and burns ever so bright. This is where stars are born, and dreams are nurtured. This is where magnum opus concerts are designed and presented!

The grand musical, ‘Ajab Gazab Adventures of Gulliver’ a fusion of theatre, dance, and music, was presented by 1000 students of classes 3 to 12 on November 3rd, 2023. Padma Shri Smt. Sarita Joshi, a renowned film actor and theatre personality, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Revered as one of the most eminent figures in Gujarati and Marathi theatre, her popular shows and films being ‘Baa Bahoo Aur Baby’, Darna Zaruri Hai’, ‘Singham Returns’, ‘Simba’, ‘Nazar’ 12th Fail, and India’s most popular TV series – Anupama, and Pushpa Impossible. Sarita Joshi received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1988, the prestigious Padma Shri in 2020, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Gujarati Theatre in 2007.

Navrachana School’s Orchestra is a unique presentation, for a large number of students to get the opportunity to showcase their talent in instrumental and vocal music on stage. The 132-member Orchestra presented a magnificent recitation of ‘Sampoorna Vande Mataram,’ filling the air with patriotism.

‘Ajab Gazab Adventures of Gulliver,’ is a recreation of Gulliver’s Travels that instilled values of unity, empathy, fraternity, and global cooperation. Creatively, the message was sent out to the audience, to avoid war, embrace peace, and live sustainably, for a brighter future for the planet.

Navrachana Annual concerts are in-house productions, where script writing, music composition, choreography, direction, acting, singing, digital media presentations, reporting, artwork, props, costume design, and stagecraft, are all handled by the brilliant students and teachers at the school. The Stagecraft involves indigenous set design, at a large scale and the costumes and props are also state-of-the-art, designed by students and teachers.

Concerts are a way to promote the development of relevant transferable skills, useful in other areas of a student’s academic life and beyond. Communication, Confidence, Teamwork, leadership, Listening and responding, Creativity, Critical thinking and problem-solving, Time management and Research!
