NEP 2020: Ministry of education calls for ideas, suggestions on NCF

December 27, 2022

The Ministry of Education has called people to participate in the Digital Survey for National Curriculum Framework (DiSaNC) to seek opinions and ideas on the National Education Policy 2020.

The DiSaNC aims to collect suggestions and feedback from the public at large. This will help in the formulation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) according to the ministry. The DiSaNC Survey will be made available in 23 languages.

It may be recollected that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has proposed the development of the curriculum framework in four sections namely: the school education, early childhood care and education (ECCE), teacher education and adult education.

The survey questions revolve around various issues including questioning what an age could be appropriate content to prescribe for children that age. Subjects that could be taught to children in classes 3 to 5 and areas of study for children in Classes 6 to 8 are discussed. The discussions target learning of children in the age group between three and eight years.

The survey seeks expert opinion on school education, values that must be inculcated in children while also giving them formal education, and what language a child should learn in school from Class 1 onwards.

The other aspect focuses on teacher wellbeing and development. The ministry has asked suggestions for improving the dignity of teachers, bettering pedagogies, and the role of teachers in well-rounded development of children.
