A somber incident unfolded in Noida Extension, where a Class 12 student reportedly took his own life by leaping from the 22nd floor of a building mere hours after completing a board exam. The 19-year-old student, who had faced academic setbacks by not clearing the exam the previous year, returned home following the English Core exam for Class 12. The grieving parents discovered the heart-wrenching scene and promptly alerted the local Bisrakh police station around 4.20 pm on the same day. The police, accompanied by forensic experts, swiftly responded to the tragic event, initiating necessary legal proceedings.
During their interaction with the police, the parents disclosed that their son had gone to the terrace of the building at the 22nd floor after returning home from the exam. This devastating incident underscores the student’s previous struggles with academic performance, as he was unable to clear the Class 12 exam in the preceding year.
Mental health experts emphasize the critical role of early intervention by close observers such as family, friends, and peers in recognizing behavioral changes and engaging in empathetic conversations to address underlying issues. The police, in response to rising mental health concerns, have consistently appealed to the public, including students, urging them to dial the emergency number 112 for assistance in cases involving suicidal thoughts. The gravity of such incidents highlights the need for a collective effort to foster an environment where individuals facing challenges feel supported and encouraged to seek help.
