NSUI and ABVP activists, along with students, staged a protest at a private university, alleging that the delay in ambulance arrival contributed to the death of a student who suffered a heart stroke two days earlier.
The 19-year-old student, who was enrolled in a B.Sc (Agriculture) program, suddenly collapsed from a heart stroke in an examination hall on August 8. Despite being rushed to the hospital in a car, he passed away en route after being transferred to an ambulance that eventually arrived.
Protesters demanded that the university station ambulances in each block to ensure prompt medical response in emergencies. The demonstration saw attempts to set some furniture on fire, but these were quickly extinguished by authorities. The protesters also called for improvements in emergency medical services and better healthcare provisions for students on campus. Police reported that the situation was brought under control, and further investigations are ongoing.
