On Friday, the NSUI, affiliated with the Congress party, revealed its candidate lineup for the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections scheduled for September 22.
Hitesh Gulia, a final-year student at Law Centre-I, is vying for the position of president. The 23-year-old completed his undergraduate studies at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.
Abhi Dahiya is the candidate for the vice-president’s role, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies at the age of 24.
Yakshana Sharma, a 24-year-old graduate from Hindu College, has been nominated by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) for the secretary’s position. She is in her final year of LLB studies at Campus Law Centre.
Shubham Kumar Chaudhary, competing for the post of joint secretary, received his schooling at GD Goenka School in Vasant Kunj. He holds an undergraduate degree from the College of Vocational Studies and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies.
The DUSU elections are set to take place on September 22, marking their return after a four-year hiatus. These elections were last held in 2019. The disruptions caused by COVID-19 prevented the elections from taking place in 2020 and 2021, and potential academic calendar conflicts led to their cancellation in 2022.
