The rise of technology catalysed an unprecedented global transformation. Over a relatively short period of time, we journeyed from the great dot com boom to contemporary innovations such as the internet of things and augmented reality. But that’s not all! Technology has seeped into every nook and corner of our lives with hyperconnected ecosystems that enable us to connect with people who reside halfway across the world in real time. This is a boon for personal and professional growth. However, one does wonder how technology can be leveraged to solve some of the most challenging issues of our time. And what role does new-age education play in encouraging change?
In a world, where everything is on-demand, a university must sculpt education based on a student’s aptitude and background. At Vidyashilp University, it is our vision to nurture domain experts with interdisciplinary problem-solving acumen to tackle global challenges such as climate change, gender inequality, and poverty, among others. We transcend the traditional boundaries of race, creed, and nationality to embrace the essence of global citizenship.
In order to effect change, we have curated a new-age approach to education. We not only impart knowledge but prioritise the overall development of an individual. From cultivating leadership qualities to building character, our focus is on mentoring holistic leaders. We also encourage our students to express their flair for entrepreneurship on campus. The Vidyashilp Incubation Centre marks our commitment to the nurturing innovative problem solvers and entrepreneurs.
At Vidyashilp University, students experience transformative learning. With a keen eye on academic excellence, we have created an instructional design that draws on the persistent progress in science and technology. While we focus on the process through which learning takes place, some of our faculty, who are industry practitioners, constantly enhance our programmes to create career-relevant courses that meet industry needs.
Our six inherently interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes are carefully curated to ensure that students develop deep domain knowledge while exploring its application across contexts. It is this new-age learning that sets up our students for success in an ever-changing world. Moreover, students can opt for a research specialisation to experience immersive learning in the domain of their choice. It also opens an avenue for a direct entry into a PhD programme as students accumulate the required academic credits during their bachelor’s programme.
We are committed to bringing alive the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals at our campus. In particular, we focus on ensuring inclusive and equitable education for all. Our enabling scholarships make it possible for those with financial constraints to experience quality education. We also offer merit and encouragement scholarships for those who excel in academics and extracurricular activities, respectively. We envision knitting together a diverse student community to nurture holistic leaders.
At Vidyashilp University, we firmly believe that fun and learning go hand in hand. Extracurricular learning is an integral part of our students’ lives. We have partnered with institutions such as the Centre for Sports Excellence, Bangalore School of Speech and Drama, BMC Adventures, and Let’s Play Climbing, among others, to ensure that our students have access to a whole gamut of recreational activities at their disposal. To encourage this further, we associate academic credits with extracurricular activities.
Education is a lifelong process built through experiences with our environment and society. Therefore, it takes innovative approaches to teaching and learning to ensure that education at our university is personalised, interconnected, and seamless. Most of all, we strive to nurture adept global citizens who give themselves wholeheartedly to solving the most pressing real-world challenges.
