O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has hired 165 new faculty members in the academic session 2020-2021. With the addition of these new faculty members, JGU has 725 full time faculty members across nine schools and three research and capacity building institutes. Their contribution as Researchers, Professors, and Scholars will promote a vibrant culture of academic excellence in diverse range of disciplines and fields and enhance institution building at JGU.
JGU has made a huge commitment through these new faculty hires of 165, including 68 Academic Tutors and TRIP Fellows. This has substantially expanded its faculty and will give more opportunities for learning to the students of JGU. The decision to hire such a large number of faculty members, scholars and practitioners across different disciplines and backgrounds is a testament to JGU’s commitment to establish a world class institution of excellence in India.
The focus on global orientation for promoting diversity at JGU is further strengthened by the fact that nearly 12% of its full time faculty members are international, coming from 36 different countries/regions of the world, such as Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Nepal, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Trinidad & Tobago, United Kingdom, Ukraine, United States of America and Zimbabwe.
Notwithstanding the global pandemic and the COVID-19 public health crisis in 2020, it was a remarkable year for JGU. JGU is not only amongst the 21 Indian Universities to have made it to the QS World University Rankings 2021, but has also climbed up an impressive 100 ranks and positioned itself in the Top 651-700 universities in the world. JGU is also recognised in the QS WUR 2021 as India’s Number 1 Ranked Private University. JGU has been ranked as the India’s Number 1 Law School and among the top 101-150 in the world the QS World University Ranking 2020 by Subject. JGU is also the only private university from India and the only university with a focus entirely on social sciences, arts and humanities to be featured in the Top 150 universities in the world in the QS Young University Rankings 2021.
