Odisha will sign MoU with Centre for PM SHRI school scheme

March 28, 2024

The Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday that Odisha has agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for implementing the PM SHRI school scheme.

With Odisha’s participation, only West Bengal, Kerala, and Delhi have yet to sign an MoU with the Union Ministry of Education for such schools.

“The Odisha government has made the significant decision to sign an MoU with the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to implement the PM SHRI Scheme, exemplifying NEP 2020 standards,” the Ministry of Education stated.

The MoU is scheduled to be signed by the state before the commencement of the 2024-25 academic year. This partnership signifies stronger Center-state relations, the ministry added.

“We wholeheartedly endorse this initiative as it underscores our collective commitment to enhancing school education and ensuring the comprehensive development of students in Odisha,” the Ministry of Education emphasized.

The PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme aims to upgrade 14,500 schools, benefiting 1.8 million students, and transform them into model institutes aligned with the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In the initial phase, the Union government has selected 6,448 schools across 28 states and Union territories for upgrade.
