According to a study, more than 60 per cent of students said they would prefer to continue online education even after schools reopen post lockdown. Only 38.7 per cent of students said they would be comfortable to join schools post lockdown.

The study conducted by Brainly, a knowledge-sharing community, stated that around 53.3 per cent of students prefer blended learning with a mix of both online and offline learning after schools reopen. 42.5 per cent said they will continue to learn online only and 28.7 per cent said they are unsure and are still considering online learning as an option.

A majority of students, about 55.2 percent, said they have been enjoying virtual classes during the lockdown. More than one-third of the participants look forward to online education, as per the survey. However, many students also expressed their concerns about online mode of education due to Internet connectivity issues in remote areas.

Earlier, Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had earlier said that schools in India are likely to reopen after August 15 if the situation due to outbreak of coronavirus pandemic improves. However, whenever schools reopen, it would be ensured that they follow all safety guidelines including wearing of masks, staggered attendance among others. These guidelines are being framed by NCERT, as informed by the HRD minister.

Education institutes had shut indefinitely after the a nationwide lockdown was announced to contain the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
