The World Universities Summit 2024, themed “Universities of the Future: A Global Partnership for Social Justice and Sustainable Development,” organized by O.P. Jindal Global University’s International Institute for Higher Education Research & Capacity Building (IIHEd), will kick off on February 19, 2024. The hybrid event includes two days of virtual thematic sessions followed by a Higher Education Leaders Conclave at JGU’s campus on February 21, 2024.

The inaugural session will be graced by Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Dr. Subhas Sarkar, with Guests of Honour including Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Professor (Dr.) Pankaj Mittal, and Professor (Dr.) Virander S. Chauhan. Over 225 academics and leaders from 100+ global universities will participate, featuring 85 Vice-Chancellors, Provosts, and other key figures.

The summit aims to shape the future of universities globally, continuing its tradition since 2020 in a virtual format. The Higher Education Leaders Conclave, in partnership with Dr. Pritam Singh Foundation, will host scholars like Professor (Dr.) Philip G. Altbach and Professor (Dr.) Shailendra Raj Mehta. The conclave will engage 100 Vice-Chancellors and Higher Education Leaders from Delhi NCR on the role of universities in social justice and sustainable development.

Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice-Chancellor of JGU and Director of IIHEd, emphasized the summit’s collaborative vision, bringing together thought leaders to explore the evolving role of universities. The event will feature over 25 thematic sessions with a global perspective, including leaders from organizations like the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the Association of American Universities and Colleges, Quacquarelli Symonds, and the World Bank.
