Orchids The International School students adopt a tiger

With the contributions of over 2,000 students, students of Orchids- The International School (OIS), BTM Layout in Bengaluru have adopted an eight-year-old tiger.

Total Fund collected Rs 1,16,794 has been collected by the school which will be used to cater to the animal’s needs over the next one-year period of adoption. These funds were raised by the school over a two weeks period.

Students from across classes of this K12 school have made contributions towards the same. The tiger ‘Mithun’ has been adopted at Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru to spread awareness regarding Tiger conservation in India.

“Orchids – The International School always encourages their students to become responsible citizens and make an impact on the environment. The students at the school believe that the tiger is not only our national animal but a symbol of the ecosystem and tiger is the pride of our country and we must save tigers,” a statement from the school read.

Manjula B, the principal said, “We are extremely ecstatic to share that our students took this novel initiative to support ‘Project Tiger ‘by adopting Mithun. Right from conceptualizing to collecting funds, everything was done by our students. We supported them wholeheartedly. I hope we can take more such initiatives in the future and inspire other schools and branches to come forward and work towards wildlife conservation in the country and help in saving more such endangered animals.”
