Over 700 Indian students based out of Canada are likely to face deportation as documents submitted at the time of verification were found to be fake.

Students claimed that they were aware of the same only after they received deportation letters from the Canadian Border Security Agency (CBSA) recently.

These 700 students had applied for study visas via a private agency, Education Migration Services based out of Jalandhar headed by Brijesh Mishra. They claimed that the agency charged them over Rs 16 lakh per student for all expenses, including admission fee to premier institute Humber College.

Although these students were studying in Canada and residing there since 2018-19, the fact that they had fake documents came to light only when they applied for permanent residency. At the time of verification of documents for the same, this came to light.

Students, however, claimed that they were unaware of the same and that the agency might have duped them. Ironically, most of these students have also completed study and have secured job offers.

One of the students also claimed that while making payment to the agent, she expressed interest in seeking a seat in a government-run higher educational institution in Canada rather than a private one. The agent had promised students that a change in college can be facilitated after they reached the North American Country.

The question however remains on whether the colleges themselves issued students fake admission letters or whether the agent procured them illegally and passed it off.
