Paper leak kingpin taken into custody two days before PU exams begin

Maharashtra SSC paper leak

As pre-university exams kick off in Karnataka today, Central Crime Branch have taken into custody PU question paper leak master mind Shivakumaraiah, alias Guruji.

Shivakumaraiah had leaked II PU Chemistry question paper twice in 2016. While he was arrested in a Gujarat police recruitment question paper leak recently, he was released on bail last week.

“Two day ago, we took Shivakumaraiah into custody in connection with a cheating case, where he lured aspirants, promising them forest department jobs. A case was registered in Mahalakshmi Layout police limits and the case was transferred to CCB,” the Times of India quoted Alok Kumar, additional commissioner of police (crime). The newspaper, however also quote police sources, saying that taking Shivakumaraiah into custody was a strategic move to ensure he doesn’t make an attempt to leak question papers or circulate fake ones during the exams.

Over six lakh students are expected to appear for the exams scheduled between March 1and 18.
