Parliament has approved a Bill to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Guwahati, Assam, with an investment of ₹555 crore. This will be the country’s 22nd IIM.
Prime minister Narendra Modi welcomed the decision, saying the institute will strengthen educational infrastructure in the North-East and attract students and researchers from across India.
Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that the new IIM will begin admitting students from the current academic year.
