PowerSchool, a global leader in K-12 education cloud-based software, is strategically expanding its presence in the Indian market. The company plans to grow its India-based workforce to 2,000 employees within the next 3 to 5 years, a significant increase from the current 1,300 personnel. To support this commitment, PowerSchool has invested nearly 40 crores to expand its Bengaluru headquarters, increasing the Centre of Excellence (CoE) space from 75,000 sq. ft. to 112,000 sq. ft. The CoE will focus on integrating cutting-edge technology into PowerSchool’s edtech products, addressing challenges faced by educators and enhancing student learning outcomes.

The expansion involves hiring across all business units, emphasizing research and development, product innovation, customer service, marketing, and sales functions. Key positions include Data Scientists and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) experts to support PowerSchool’s plans for AI functionality, unlocking the potential of personalized education.

PowerSchool recently acquired Neverskip, a Chennai-based ERP software company, to strengthen its presence in India, reaching over 900 schools and 1.2 million students. The company specializes in providing the PowerSchool Schoology Learning management system to top schools in India.

Hardeep Gulati, CEO of PowerSchool, emphasizes India’s critical role in the company’s global strategy. The Bengaluru CoE expansion not only reflects their commitment to the Indian market but also serves as a strategic hub for expansion plans in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

Apoorav Nischal, Managing Director and Country Head, PowerSchool India, highlights the multifaceted hiring focus with an emphasis on AI/ML skills for product innovation. The new CoE, designed for collaboration and sustainability, aligns with the company’s commitment to fostering a positive work culture.
