The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) hosted his Excellency Paul Kagame, president of the Republic of Rwanda, on January 20. K.T. Chacko, director of IIFT and Dr. R.M. Joshi, chairman of the management development faculty, together with government officials, members of Delhis diplomatic corps, students and faculty of the institute received President Kagame on the IIFT campus in New Delhi.President Kagame invited IIFT to help build capacity in Africa in the areas of international business, negotiations at the WTO forum, trade policy formulation etc. Though the current global meltdown has left industry anxious, Africa is still a frontrunner in the list of potential markets of the world. With the state still playing a key role in many of the sectors in Africa, the time is ripe for a comprehensive dialogue between Indian industry and key stakeholders of both public and private sector enterprises in Africa, he said. Promoted by the Union ministry of commerce in 1963, IIFT is Indias premier international business research and training institute.
