Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar announced on Friday that the state government will distribute special smartphones equipped with Braille script to visually impaired students in Classes 6 to 12 of government schools.
Speaking at a ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar Samasya Samadhan’ camp in Kota South, Dilawar highlighted the initiative under the “Child with Special Education Scheme.” This program, supported by the social justice and empowerment department, provides free assistive devices to differently abled students to promote inclusive education and ensure equal learning opportunities for all.
“These smartphones are designed to empower visually impaired students by enhancing their access to educational resources,” Dilawar stated. “Technology should bridge gaps, not create them. Our goal is to ensure every student, regardless of their challenges, can learn effectively and confidently.”
In addition to smartphones, the state government will also distribute battery-operated tricycles to students with disabilities. These innovations aim to promote independence and improve the quality of life for differently abled students across Rajasthan.
The specially designed smartphones, valued at ₹50,000 each, were developed through a collaborative effort between the education and social justice departments. They feature advanced accessibility tools, including Braille support and voice assistance, making learning more interactive and engaging for visually impaired students.
This initiative is part of the state government’s broader commitment to inclusive education, ensuring no child is left behind in their academic journey.
