Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the country’s first all-girls Sainik School in Vrindavan, marking a historic moment for women empowerment in the armed forces. The Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School accommodates approximately 870 students and is part of the initiative to establish 100 new Sainik Schools in collaboration with NGOs, private entities, and state government schools across all states and Union territories. This expansion supplements the existing 33 Sainik Schools.
Rajnath Singh hailed the school as a beacon of hope for girls aspiring to join the armed forces and serve the nation. He emphasized the government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, to provide women with rightful opportunities in the armed forces. The decision to admit girls to Sainik Schools, approved in 2019, has resulted in notable success, with women now excelling in various roles, including flying fighter jets and safeguarding the borders.
Addressing the significance of Vrindavan, Singh highlighted its cultural and spiritual importance, where people from all walks of life, including foreigners, find solace and settle down. The defence minister connected the opening of the military school to the divine orders of Radha and Krishna, emphasizing the city’s spiritual essence.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with senior state officials, attended the inauguration ceremony. The decision to establish 100 new Sainik Schools aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, aiming to provide quality education and diverse career opportunities for students, including the prospect of joining the armed forces. This visionary approach not only nurtures the youth but also fosters collaboration between the private sector and the government, contributing to nation-building.
Rajnath Singh also participated in the ‘Shasthi Purti Mahotsav’ program organized in Vatsalya Gram Vrindavan, where he acknowledged Sadhvi Ritambhara’s significant contribution to the Ram Temple movement. The defence minister expressed gratitude for receiving blessings from saints on the first day of the year, highlighting the auspicious nature of the occasion. The inauguration of the all-girls Sainik School stands as a testament to India’s commitment to gender equality and the progressive inclusion of women in diverse fields, including the armed forces.
