The authorities of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar in Jharkhand, the oldest among mission-run schools, are planning to open at least one examination centre in south India for students who want to appear in the institution’s Class XI entrance test from that region, officials of the institution said.

The school affiliated with the Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) established in 1922, at present conducts its Class XI admission test from two centres including the Deoghar Vidyapith campus and Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark in Kolkata.

The Class XI admission test (written) for the 2025 session which is scheduled to be held on January 19 will be conducted at the Deoghar campus and Kolkata centres.

“ There is a plan to open a new examination venue in South India so that students of that region wanting to appear in the Class XI admission test are not required to travel from the far away states to Deoghar or Kolkata for writing the exam. The plan is at a preliminary stage but we are considering to finalise the proposal soon,” Swami Divyasudhananda, principal of the school told EducationWorld.

After the written test held in offline mode, the successful students are required to appear in an interview which is held online.

The institution, known as one of the best CBSE schools in Bengal, Bihar Jharkhand states offers 66 seats in the science stream.

Though the school is fully residential, the seats are limited and where the medium of instruction is only English, the authorities receive a large number of queries from various states about the admission procedure, every year. The school has received best CBSE school awards and awarded the highest rank by different organizations.

Apart from the high academic standards maintained by the school like many other mission-run institutions, what makes the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar Class XI and XII course more attractive to students and guardians is the extensive coaching offered by it to each and every student to enable them to crack state and all-India level competitive exams for studying engineering and medical courses. The coaching also prepares students for pursuing  higher studies in pure science and medical science in reputable institutions of higher education in the country.

“Professional and experienced group of teachers from eminent coaching centres as well as our own teachers who have the expertise to train aspiring engineering and medical students provide tailor-made tutorial classes for every student. This additional coaching is a part of the school curriculum and offered without charging any extra fee,” the principal said.

A considerable number of students from the school crack the JEE Main, JEE Advanced and medical entrance examinations (NEET) every year, officials said.

According to the school principal, there are several benefits of having students from multiple states and backgrounds. “Our selection of students to Class XI is held through a very rigorous screening process. Our aim is to have some of the best and meritorious students from all parts of the country.”

As of now nearly 800 candidates have enrolled for appearing in the admission test for the ensuing 2025 session.
