Six schools of the Mumbai-based Ryan International Group of Institutions (RIGI), will work as a single cluster with four schools in the United Kingdom on learning-based projects over the next three years under the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), a programme supported by the British Council.UKIERI aims to substantially improve education links between India and the UK so the two countries become partners of choice in education. The initiative was announced by British prime minister Tony Blair during his visit to India in September 2005 and launched in April 2006. The three main thrust areas of the initiative are higher education and research, school education collaboration and professional and technical skills development partnerships. In the new globalising world it is important for teachers and students around the world to work together to break down barriers and boundaries in education. I am sure that our six schools will set a path for other institutions in India to follow, says Mme Grace Pinto managing director of RIGI.
