Sahyadri School, Pune is a co-educational residential school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Founded in September 1995 by Late Shri Achyut Patwardhan, the school is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation, India (KFI), based on the views of philosophical speaker and writer J. Krishnamurti. The school offers education from class IV to class XII and boasts about 280 students and 45 teachers.
Sahyadri School hosts a beautifully landscaped, eco-friendly campus with a well-stocked library, well-equipped laboratories, computer facilities, audio-visual equipment, and a fully functional medical unit under the care of a qualified doctor and a nurse.
The campus facilitates a range of indoor and outdoor games which inculcates in children a spirit of confidence, participation and sportsmanship.
In the junior school (classes IV-VI), students are trained to become proficient in subjects to meet the needs of the ICSE exam at the end of class X. The school does not encourage competition but endeavors to create an atmosphere where students can excel. Classes are small to provide close contact between teacher and students and enable better participation.
In the middle school (classes VII and VIII), learning is imparted through excursions, workshops, outdoor activities and craftwork. Children are encouraged to participate in dialogue through open houses as well as through class and house meetings.
At the senior school level (classes IX-XII), students are given greater freedom and responsibility by allowing them to take the initiative to plan and organize school events. Students are prepared for the class X examinations conducted by the ICSE Board and a wide choice of subjects is made available to students. In addition to the compulsory subjects, English, an Indian language (Hindi or Marathi) and social studies, students can choose additional subjects ranging from the standard choices of mathematics and sciences to subjects such as music, fine arts, physical education, environmental science, commercial studies, economics applications and computer science applications.
Extracurricular:
The school boasts a well designed Arts complex were children learn sketching, painting, batik, tie and dye, pottery, clay work and weaving. In addition, workshops are held in bamboo craft, puppetry, glass painting, mask making, sculpture and Madhubani painting. Students are also acquainted with traditional arts, craft, music and dance.
All students from classes IV to VIII receive formal training in classical music and attend Western or Indian dance classes. Evening hobby classes are also conducted in vocal Hindustani music. Classical Indian dance forms are offered to interested students.
The school offers vigorous physical education programs for sports such as football, basketball, cricket, tennis, badminton, hockey, softball, volleyball, throwball, handball, table tennis, kabbadi and kho-kho. The school also conducts a morning exercise program. Besides formal games, hikes, treks and outdoor camps are a regular feature at the school.
Students are taken for excursions around Sahyadri as well as to distant places so that they become familiar with environmental issues, historical heritage and important cultural centers.

The entry points to the school are in classes IV to VII, and class XI. For admission to class IV, a child should be 8.5 to 9.5 years of age. Admission forms are available from October and interviews are held between January and March. The application form is available on payment of Rs. 500 by cash or demand draft in favor of ‘Sahyadri School, K.F.I.’ It can also be downloaded from the school website, in which case it should be filled up and sent to the school along with the cheque or demand draft.
The completed application form, together with the documents mentioned may be sent by ordinary post, registered post or speed post to the school address.
Fees
The total fee for the year is Rs. 1,89,000 for Indian students and USD 12,300 for foreign/NRI students which is equivalent to INR 7, 56, 450. This includes a refundable deposit of Rs. 1, 00, 000 or 6000 dollars.
