In a significant development, a special court in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, delivered a verdict on Tuesday, convicting a school manager and a teacher for the gang-rape of a nine-year-old girl student in March 2022.
The court handed down a stern punishment, sentencing both individuals to 20 years of imprisonment.
Government counsel Dinesh Sharma revealed that the special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court judge declared the school manager, Udaypal, and teacher, Rajkumar, guilty of the crime committed in March 2022. In addition to the lengthy prison term, a penalty of Rs 50,000 was imposed on the perpetrators.
The shocking incident, as detailed in the police chargesheet, unfolded within the premises of the school, where the young victim, whose identity remains protected, fell prey to the ruthless actions of Udaypal and Rajkumar.
This landmark judgment sends a strong message to society that such reprehensible acts will not be tolerated, particularly when perpetrated against innocent children. The court’s decision emphasizes the gravity of the crime committed and aims to serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.
