Sited on a state-of-the-art six-acre campus near the green urban forestry project site of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the new genre Johnson Grammar School, Kuntloor (JGS-KTLR, estb. 2010) has built a good reputation for providing contemporary, high-quality, values-based education to its over 5,000 students mentored by over 300 teachers. In the recently published EW India School Rankings 2023-24, JGS-KTLR is ranked among Hyderabad’s Top 10 co-educational day schools. Affiliated with the Delhi-based CISCE board, the school offers kindergarten to class X education.

JGS-KTLR was promoted 13 years ago by educationist Dr. B. Mallikarjun Rao to commemorate and propound the education vision of his late father SRN Mudiraj — founder chairman of the Johnson Group of schools affiliated with multiple boards — to “provide quality and affordable education focused on values and ethics, holistic and socio-emotional development”.

A business and educational management alumnus of the British National University of Queen Mary (UK) and Maryland State University (USA), Dr. B. Mallikarjun Rao grew up in a family that accords high priority to education and human development. His grandfather and great grandfather were Indian Army World War veterans.
Dr. Rao began his edupreneurial journey in 1985 with the family-run Johnson Grammar Group of Schools under the guidance of his father. In 2010, he promoted a new state-of the-art Johnson Grammar School campus in L.B. Nagar and later in Kuntloor. Among his recent initiatives are a focus on NEP-based Skills Integrated Learning with Innovation & Simulation Labs. To ensure the well-being of all students & staff , he has introduced Insurance coverage and Health & Safety audits by an outsourced professional company. In 2019,
Dr. Rao was conferred the Asia Pacific International Educational Excellence Award by the Delhi-based Achievers Association for Health & Educational Growth and the Bharath Shiksha Ratan Award 2018 for Best Personalities by the Delhi-based Economic Growth Foundation.
