Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya hosted the IPSC STUDENTS’ CONCLAVE 2024 bringing together brilliant young minds from across schools, each representing the future of leadership, innovation, and collaboration. Students from 14 IPSC schools from across the country participated in this 3 day event that focused on school publications School publications are essential platforms for developing key skills that are often overlooked. The field of journalism extends far beyond simple news reporting—it involves in-depth research, articulate writing, and ethical communication, all of which are vital in today’s information-driven age. During this conclave the students were given formal training by professionals in the field on writing and reporting & also visual storytelling through photography, layout design, and effective use of design tools was taught. We were privileged to have Ms. Sunetra Choudhury, distinguished journalist, author and news anchor, with the Hindustan Times as the chief guest and the key note speaker for the event. Her career in journalism began in 1999 with The Indian Express followed by Star News, NDTV and now has taken on the role of National Editor for Political Affairs at The Hindustan Times. Special guest, Mr. Anup Gupta, a distinguished media professional with over four decades of experience in the industry. Mr. Gupta has been associated with the Hindustan Times Group, contributing to all three of their print titles. The conclave commenced in the true IPSC tradition, with the flag march, where representatives from all the participating schools marched with their school flags and made their way to the flag post, followed by the chief guest delivering her keynote address as she presented ‘The Power of School Publications,’ followed by an engaging Q&A session. Over the next 2 days exciting lineup of workshops and interactive sessions were designed to challenge and inspire the young minds. From the Editathon-a thrilling Sports Carnival! Where the Participants showcased their athletic prowess in a marathon of games, graffiti on wall, article writing, heritage walk to discussing innovative strategies used by schools in student editorial boards & social media management. Mr. Anup Gupta, shared his expertise on ‘mastering visual storytelling through photography, layout design, and effective use of design tools’. Mr. Ankit Nathani, a veteran marketing & communications conducted a workshop on creating engaging social media content for schools. Towards the end of the conclave the participating schools had to apply & showcase their learnings and create a newsletter covering all the events featuring their work on the final day.
