The Supreme Court bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra will hear the batch of petitions pertaining to the alleged malpractices and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 Examination on July 8.
The cause list for July 8, published on the Apex Court’s website indicated that the hearing is scheduled before the bench led by CJI Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud.
The hearing could set the ball rolling to give clarity to the 2.4 million students who appeared for NEET this year.
After the declaration of the NEET-UG results conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 4, several petitions were filed over the lapses in procedures by the NTA, grant of grace marks to 1,563 candidates, malpractices and paper leaks and the need for the CBI probe into the conduct of examination. Some petitions had also sought that NEET-UG be conducted afresh.
It may be recalled that Alakh Pandey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EdTech firm Physics Wallah, has moved the Supreme Court (SC) against the alleged random award of grace marks by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Meanwhile, on July 1, a writ petition has been filed by five medical aspirants who wrote the competitive exam stating that cancellation of this examination will be an “arbitrary decision” and pleaded the SC not to do so.
