Delhi Police have arrested seven individuals, including five juveniles, in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old school student in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area, an official confirmed on Saturday.
The suspects were arrested while attempting to flee the city. Police recovered the knife used in the murder and other crucial evidence.
The victim, a Class 9 student, was attacked outside his school on Friday. Investigations revealed that during a break at 4 pm, a classmate of the victim borrowed a mobile phone and made a call, during which the dispute was discussed. The classmate allegedly instructed someone on the other end to “send people.”
By 6 pm, when students were leaving the school, the accused classmate was seen waiting outside with a group. One of the accomplices then stabbed the victim in the thigh, inflicting severe injuries. The attackers fled the scene.
School staff provided immediate first aid and rushed the victim to Hedgewar Hospital, where he was later referred to GTB Hospital. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
After reviewing CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing technical evidence, police identified and apprehended all seven suspects, including five juveniles and two adults — 19-year-old Saarthi, a college student, and 31-year-old Aman Kumar, a dairy shop owner.
Police seized critical evidence, including blood-stained clothes, shoes, and the murder weapon. Investigations are ongoing to determine the roles and motives of each suspect involved.
