Infant Community Program
Age group: 1.6 years to 2.6 years
The program is designed to help children develop independence, social awareness, motor skills and language. Activities are offered in the areas of language enrichment, daily life exercises, hand eye coordination, art and visual recognition through song, and dance. Toddlers engage in a variety of large muscle activities which offer them opportunities to jump, climb, balance, crawl, and skip. However, it is tempered by two important limits that will be beneficial for a lifetime — respect for others and respect for the environment.
Pre primary program
Age group: 2.6 years to 6 years
In this program children are free to choose their own work and to watch other children’s work. A variety of specially designed learning materials and activities are arranged on open shelves in specific and yet integrated areas of the environment – such as practical life, sensorial, language, mathematics, science, music, art, physical education and culture.
Practical Life – These activities provide the link between the home and school. The aim is to make the child independent and confident, enhance concentration and co-ordination sequencing skills and help develop independence. Examples of activities include:
Care of the environment such as caring for plants and performing household tasks.
Care of the self – using clothes fasteners, washing hands, simple food preparation etc
Social or grace and courtesy lessons
Sensorial – Montessori material is used to help children refine their senses and become perceptive to their surroundings. Activities include matching and grading using materials that isolate the senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste, kinaesthesia and smell.
Language – Materials are used to increase vocabulary and explore both written and aural/oral language. Children are introduced to letters using the senses of touch, sight and hearing. They progress using concrete materials to compose their own written works and to read the work of others.
Mathematics – Mathematical concepts are introduced using Montessori concrete materials. Children are introduced to mathematics with geometric shapes and triangles. Through the sensory work children understand geometry and arithmetic concepts.
Admissions are made based on the number of vacancies available, application form, and personal interaction with parents.
