Shikshantar School is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Board. The school was founded in April 2003 with just three classes – nursery, kindergarten and class I. Since then, it has added classes each year and presently offers education till class IX. Shikshantar claims to have evolved from the collective conviction of the core team members about children, their learning experiences and what adults can provide for them. The school believes that there is much more to education than merely teaching a syllabus and preparing children for examinations.
Shikshantar is promoted by Unitech, a reputed multinational company with established businesses in construction, real estate, entertainment and hospitality. The school is led and guided by a core team of three members: Minoti Bahri, Sanjay Prakash and Sunil Batra.
The Shikshantar School campus houses three large libraries well-stocked with age-appropriate reading materials which provide a space where children discover meaningful relationships with the written word and a fantasy world. Older children are often seen widening their knowledge base through research books, encyclopaedias and other reading material.
Well-equipped infrastructure and grounds are provided for athletics and team games like basketball, badminton, chess, cricket, football, gymnastics, swimming, table tennis and volleyball. Children from class IV onwards go for swimming to the Unitech Patio Club once a week during the summer season.
There is also a play space in pre-school with tunnels, swings and climbers which become the favourite space for young children in Shikshantar right from the first day. The school also has facilities for art and music for students to express their creativity.
In primary years, students are introduced to all subjects, academic and non-academic. As they grow older, they are encouraged to choose between theatre and dance, vocals or guitar, badminton or cricket, and Sanskrit or German.
Themes in the groups are taken keeping in mind the learning needs of the children. The language curriculum is designed to provide rich experiences in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Children build connections with language, math and science in their surroundings. To deal with a mathematical concept, concrete material, relevant situations and games are used. The science curriculum provides opportunities for exploring, experimenting, observing and drawing conclusions. The sports curriculum lays emphasis on development of gross motor skills, stamina, flexibility, balance, strength and overcoming fear. Art, music, dance and theatre help children to express themselves and connect to their inner selves.
Based on a comprehensive evaluation system, evaluation in the school is a combined effort on the part of teachers, parents and the students to better understand the learning experiences for each child. Teachers use daily class observations, children’s creative pursuits, informal assessments, group and individual goal settings as indicators of progress and development. Evaluation at Shikshantar is also a source of inspiration and learning, and not a time for judgement and fear.
The CISCE conducts examinations at the end of Class X and Class XII, referred to as the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC), respectively.

It claims to provide opportunities for appreciating the relationships between inside and outside the classroom learning experiences with the objective of nurturing the “whole” child, the person.
It is ranked among the top 20 co-ed day schools in India by the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2021-22.
Shikshantar School is a day school; hence it does not provide hostel facilities.
