Shiv Nadar University Chennai has initiated the admissions process for its undergraduate programs for the academic year 2024-25, emphasizing inclusivity and convenience for prospective candidates. The university’s innovative approach includes the introduction of the Shiv Nadar University Common Entrance Examination (SNUCEE) 2024, a computer-based offline exam accessible nationwide, with local examination centers available for students’ convenience. To cater to international students, an examination center has been established in Dubai.
A significant milestone for Shiv Nadar University Chennai is its status as the first state-private university legislated in Tamil Nadu in 90 years, marking a transformative moment since the Annamalai University Act in 1928. This legislative development occurred with the passage of the Shiv Nadar University Act in 2018. The university stands out with six specialized undergraduate programs in engineering, commerce, and economics, aligning with industry requirements. These contemporary programs are designed to impart knowledge and skills crucial for success in the dynamic professional and educational landscape, both nationally and internationally. Aspiring candidates can register for admissions through the university’s official website: https://www.snuchennai.edu.in/admission.
Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Chennai, shared his perspective on the announcement, stating, “Recognizing that knowledge is the key driver to a promising tomorrow, individuals with vision, proactive, and comprehensive skills can succeed in a dynamic job market. At Shiv Nadar University Chennai, we take pride in offering innovative engineering, commerce, and humanities programs that empower our students with the expertise to thrive in an evolving landscape. With the announcement of our 2024 admissions examination dates, we eagerly look forward to welcoming the new cohort of talented and motivated individuals.”
The university not only emphasizes academic excellence but also provides students with opportunities to engage in knowledge-building activities, such as hackathons and competitions. In 2023, several teams comprising a substantial number of students from the university were selected for government-led events like the Smart India Hackathon and various other hackathons.
Eligibility criteria for undergraduate programs stipulate that candidates who have completed or appeared for the Grade 12th standard board examinations are eligible to apply. Admission is contingent on SNUCEE performance, followed by an interview, with a requirement of obtaining at least 75% marks in the board examination. The examination comprises two main sections: Aptitude and Domain Knowledge, with a total duration of two hours. Indian students with a JEE MAIN percentile of 90 and above can apply for admissions directly without taking the SNUCEE.
