Located near Kasauli in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh, Shoolini University (estb.2007), is a private university accredited by the UGC and NAAC. Awarded one of India’s cleanest campuses under the Swachh Bharat Survey by the Government of India, Shoolini is known for its green campus that produces twice the electricity that it consumes. It has a state-of-the-art five-storied library with access to over one million books, a seminar complex with two auditoriums, three seminar rooms, a cineplex, a 500-seater amphitheatre, modern residential facilities, indoor gymnasium, cafeteria and sports stadium.
Competence of Faculty
The university has a team of qualified and accomplished faculty members, most of them are Ph D holders. The faculty members include Prof. Dinesh Singh, a Padma Shri awardee, Dr. Narendra Chirmule, a renowned biotechnology scientist, Vivek Atray, author, advisor and former IAS officer, Dinesh Dua, chairman at Pharmexcil and Manjit Singh Gill, former corporate chef & culinary consultant of ITC.
Research & innovation
To focus and identify issues related to Himalayas, the university set up the Center of Research on Himalayan Sustainability and Development (CRHSD) in 2015 which gets an annual grant of Rs 15 lakh. It is the third highest patent filer among private institutions in 2019 including IITs and IIMs. Faculty and students have so far filed over 400 patents.
Placements
The university focuses on aligning the academic curriculum to industry requirements helping in immense success in placements every consecutive year. Final year students also take up an intensive skill development SPRINT programme inspired by Stanford’s mini-MBA. The university has placed over 2,000 students at 100 companies with the highest salary package of Rs 15 lakh.
Internationalism
Shoolini university has collaborated with more than 250 higher education institutions in over 28 countries. The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at the university creates partnerships, facilitates student and faculty exchange programmes and organises joint research collaboration.
