Shri Shikshayatan School, Kolkata, is an all girls day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Founded on January 3, 1954, the school was promoted by Marwari Balika Vidyalaya Society which was established in 1920 in Burrabazar, under the stewardship of Shri Ghanshyamdas Birla and Shri Jugalkishore Birla.
The school’s motto is “Tammasya Ma Jyotirgamya” and its mission is to create a congenial child-friendly environment in which each pupil develops her intellectual ability, interpersonal skills, creative energy and a spirit of empathy. The school aims to help students develop a global perspective which will enhance their potential as global citizens and give them a headstart in life.
The school campus houses a well-stocked air-conditioned library with books for different age groups, an auditorium that can accommodate around 800 students, a computer lab, smart classes with interactive boards in the primary and higher secondary sections, mathematics lab, nutrition lab, biology lab, chemistry lab and physics lab.
The school also has a geography lab, junior science lab, art room, infirmary with trained nurse and all other medical facilities and a multipurpose hall with wooden floor and mirrored wall for holding practices, dance and workshops. The school has a public address system and CCTV with 20 cameras. There is also a swimming pool, basketball court and a flower garden.
