Pune based Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) bagged the coveted Gold Plaquefor the best case study under the category ‘Increasing Applicant Pool’at the 2nd Indian Management Conclave (IMC) Awards, 2014, an MBAUniverse.com initiative, held in New Delhi on August 8 and 9. The case study, titled ‘Campus Connect’, was presented by Dr. Chandan Chatterjee, director, SIMC. The award was presented by Shri Sunil Kant Munjal, joint MD, HeroMotoCorp and Dr Subramanian Swamy, former union minister of commerce & industry and senior BJP leader.
Beating the likes of SIBM Bangalore and TAPMI, SIMC, Pune cemented its place on the top in the ‘Increasing Applicant Pool’ category. As the name suggests, the theme focused on creating and retaining the interest of aspirants in the activities of the institute. The participants were judged on communication of a new brand positioning for their B-School, website revamp to augment branding, targeting new applicant segments and designing segment specific marketing plans and any other approach to enhance application pool. The case study presented by Chatterjee, titled Campus Connect – spoke volumes about the initiative taken up by SIMC to maintain a healthy network of communication among students on the campus and connect with the aspirants of the programme. The unique approaches undertaken by SIMC, in expanding the applicant pool was well received by the jury and SIMC was honored with the renowned IMC Gold Award 2014.
The annual Indian Management Conclave (IMC) has emerged as India’s biggest MBA educators’ conference since its launch in 2010. The IMC Awards recognise and document the best practices and initiatives that are making a positive impact on various B-Schools.
The 2014 edition of the awards was a mega event with participation from over 100 B-Schools and universities. Each entry was judged by a jury comprising distinguished members from academia; Dr Bakul Dholakia, former director of IIM, Ahemdabad, Dr. Rajan Saxena, vice-chancellor, NMIMS Mumbai and Dr Rishikesha T. Krishnan, director, Indian Institute of Management, Indore.
SIMC Pune shared the Golden Rankers space with prominent names like SP Jain, NMIMS, and JIM, while FMS BHU, IIM Shillong and MICA were awarded Silver ranking in their respective categories.
