”Skills On Wheels”: Bus Takes Digital Education To Rural Andhra Pradesh

Skills On Wheels

On Thursday, November 7, the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation launched the “Skills on Wheels” bus from the corporation office in Amravati in order to provide digital education in rural areas of the state. The bus will travel to six districts of the state, which includes Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Anantapur, and Kurnool.

About the “Skills on Wheels” bus launch, Madhusudan Reddy, the chairman of the corporation told ANI, “In each district, at least five villages will be covered. Under this scheme, three groups of the society will be provided education – school children, unemployed youngsters, and Self Help Group members.”

He further added, “In total, various groups will be provided digital literacy for 11 hours per day. Hewlett Packard (HP) is providing technical support for this project.”

In a similar move, Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district administration set up a classroom in an old and abandoned bus, back in October. The bus, replete with tables, chairs, and stationeries, was part of its initiative to deal with space crunch in school buildings. The bus has been painted and decked up in a way that it looks like a classroom on wheels, he asserted.
