Previous editions of the festival have celebrated the heritage of states and dynasties such as Mughal, Maratha, Kashmir, Sikkim, Odisha, and Kerala. This year, the vibrant colors and essence of Gujarat took center stage, as Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya transformed into a mini-Gujarat in the heartland of Madhya Pradesh.
The event showcased the length and breadth of Gujarati culture, encompassing folk traditions, cuisine, and various art forms. From classical Sugam Sangeet, Duha Chhand, and Bhavai to Mata ni Pachedi, Lippan art from Kutch, Rabari Bharot (embroidery), Ajrak Block printing, Bandej, and even a digital Trifold Brochure competition, the festival offered a modern touch to traditional arts. Esteemed judges, including Prof. Dr. Amita Pandya, Prof. Dr. Guru (Smt.) Parul Shah, Shri Bharat Bariya, Shri Akshay Patel, Shri Piyu Gadhvi, and Dr. Chandra Shekhar Barua, evaluated these competitions. The presence of Mr. Umang Hutheesing, as Guest of Honour, further emphasized the commitment to heritage and cultural advancement in Gujarat.
With over 300 students from 15 participating schools across India, the festival was a melting pot of talent and cultural exchange. From eminent personalities in textiles to folklore of Gujarat, the festivities left attendees mesmerized. The campus reverberated with the rhythmic beats of Garba and foot-tapping Dandia hits, while the lavish Gujarati feast at the Principal’s dinner created unforgettable moments.
SKV students exemplified hospitality and camaraderie throughout the three-day festival, engaging with peers from across the country and immersing themselves in the cultural legacy of Gujarat. Undoubtedly, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya embodies the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” through events like the Dharohar Festival.
