SoME launches sPeak, a 10-minute communication assistant app

SoME

The School of Meaningful Experiences (SoME), India’s only tech-enabled platform offering communication upskilling programmes for working professionals and leaders,   today announced the launch of a unique mobile app, sPeak, that encourages people to spend just 10 minutes a day on the app to improve their communication skills. Available on both Android and Apple platforms, the app aims to empower more Indians, across tier-2 and tier-3 cities and metros, with key skills to communicate confidently and effectively.

The sPeak app, powered by SoME, has both paid and free courses, wherein the user has to spend only 10 mins a day learning and practising their communication skills.   While English is the primary language of instruction, going forward, the app also aims to incorporate features like having subtitles in other local languages, making the courses more accessible to everyone.

Commenting on the company’s latest initiative, Rakesh Godhwani, Founder & CEO, SoME, said, “We are keen to democratise our programmes and make them accessible and affordable for all. Currently, our programmes are instructor-led and time-bound, and usually happen over the weekends. While many people would like to improve their communication skills, they may not find the time  to invest an hour on the weekends doing a programme. sPeak can help bridge that gap between potential learners and our courses. The app has been designed to fit the learners’ busy schedules. They can hone their communication skills while commuting to work, or waiting at the doctor’s or bank! It’s an anytime, anywhere app that easily blends into one’s lifestyle.”

sPeak’s bite-sized programmes comprise pre-recorded videos, study materials and Communication Masterclasses by Godhwani.   Learners can download the app and access the programmes at their convenience independently. The Bengaluru-based   organisation believes that the app will find many takers, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, in the 20-34 age group, and among those who move to the metros to work in MNCs.

“At SoME, we often see these young professionals deal with confidence issues, despite their stellar educational qualifications and competence. Some even join English-speaking classes as they mistakenly equate fluency in English with good communication skills. But language is only a medium; the goal of good communication is to enable individuals to understand others and to be understood themselves,” elaborates Rakesh, an IIM Bangalore alumnus with a PhD in leadership communication from Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK.

sPeak attempts to change the status quo. The mission is to create confident communicators powered by the organisation’s unique ‘Six Cs’ philosophy –  Communication, Confidence, Collaboration, Curiosity, Competence and Creativity.

Since its inception, SoME    has delivered numerous transformative and impactful programmes.
