Mumbai based S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has announced the commencement of admissions for its 11th batch of the Post Graduate Programme in Development Management, (PGP-DM). The launch of the admission process was announced by the PGP-DM chairperson Professor Rukaiya Joshi under whose leadership the programme was launched in November 2011. The PGP-DM Batch 11 commences December 5, 2016 and the last date to submit applications is November 26, 2016.
In a short span of five years, the PGP-DM has grown and established itself as one of the most innovative programmes at SPJIMR, a top 10 school of management that is noted for its innovative pedagogy and its sharp focus on value-based growth.
The announcement of the upcoming 11th batch marks an important milestone for a programme that began small and quickly came into prominence just as businesses were gearing up to meet their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.
At a time when businesses are increasingly looking for CSR professionals, the programme has stood out as an initiative that helps build capacities, drives new ideas and helps integrate CSR arms more closely with the core business. The programme also works to create a pool of professionals in the NGO/development sector who can influence public policy, CSR approaches and sustainability initiatives of businesses and various other sections of society.
Prof. Rukaiya Joshi, professor and chair person Centre for Education in Social Sector says, “Management education for Development for the senior ‘not for profits’ and ‘CSR teams’ has not received its due attention. Management principles, tools, systems and processes have been proved to be the game changer at PGP-DM.”
“In 5 years from 2011 to 2016, through over 250 participants, we have impacted 151 organisations from more than 20 States and UT. It has been a very satisfying journey from designing the program, creating an awareness of learning for greater impact, running concurrent batches to seeing multi fold benefits to the development agencies. Constant improvements and innovation has taken the program to international standards,” she added.
SPJIMR’s PGP-DM programme already boasts an alumni base of over 250, a group of individuals who are fired by the idea of service to society and equipped with the right managerial tools to work at par with senior management teams in businesses and institutions.
SPJIMR’s PGP-DM alumni come from across over 100 organisations. Among them are businesses or the CSR Foundations such as the Lupin Foundation, Aditya Birla Group, BPCL, Excel Industries and NGOs such as WWF India, Habitat for Humanity India, Alert-India, and Magic Bus, among others.
