Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi, a constituent college of Delhi University, was founded in 1961 by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust to cater to the education needs of students from South India. However, the college soon outgrew its regional character.
The college started functioning from a school building of the Andhra Education Society in Rouse Avenue with 271 students and 13 faculty members. The foundation stone of the present campus at Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi was laid on August 20, 1961 by the then Vice President of India Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The college moved into this new campus, on August 25, 1969.
The college was awarded “College with Potential for Excellence” status in 2004 by the UGC.
Sri Ventkateshwara College is located on 15 acres of land in South Campus. The college library functions on an ‘open access’ system. It houses more than 1,20,000 books and subscribes to 65 journals/periodicals and 14 newspapers in four languages. The library has more than 250 educational CDs and about 20 sets of encyclopedia. Students are provided with computers and high-speed internet connectivity to access e-journals. The library has its own Local Area Network (LAN) for 50 computers for teachers and students with internet browsing facility.
The college has a cricket pitch, courts for lawn tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton, a football field, a shooting range and space for table tennis. A well-developed botanical garden caters to the needs of students of Botany and Life Sciences. The college also has a cafeteria, a branch of the Andhra Bank besides photocopying and PCO/STD services.

For Undergraduate Courses
Applicants can access the online admission facility by logging on to the college website – www.svc.ac.in. Applications must be submitted online and the application fee should be paid through Pay Order or Demand draft of Rs 120/- drawn in favor of “The Principal, SRI VENKATESWARA COLLEGE, New Delhi” drawn on any scheduled bank.
The pre-application form to the college is to be submitted online and receipt is generated online. Printout of this receipt and application form should be submitted at the college between 9am to 1 pm on the days notified.
For Postgraduate Courses
Admission to M.A./M.Sc. courses is done through a centralized slip issued by the Delhi University and students are advised to register at the respective departments at the DU.
The college was awarded “College with Potential for Excellence” status in 2004 by the UGC.
It is ranked 14th across India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2020.
It is also ranked sixth in the EducationWorld India Non-autonomous Colleges Rankings 2020-21.
The college hostel has 36 rooms to accommodate 72 boys and 36 rooms for 72 girls. The newly constructed hostel started functioning in 2008.
