St. Xaviers English High School & Junior College, Thane

Sited on an eight-acre eco-friendly campus in Thane, Mumbai, the coeducational St. Xavier’s English High School and Junior College (estb.1993) has earned an excellent reputation for providing high-quality, holistic, affordable education to 7,500 students mentored by 300 teachers. Affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), it provides a rigorous academic programme supplemented with a plethora of sports and extra-curricular activities to promote all-round development of students.
Founded in 1993 as Anand Vidyalaya, it was rechristened St. Xavier’s English High School & Junior College in 1995 by Parasnath Rammurti Rai, well-known educationist and founder-chairman of the Rammurti Education Society which also manages St. Xavier’s Global Academy, Thane and St. Xavier’s High School, Panvel. The society’s objective is to provide “education for all and develop moral values, transparency of thought and communication skills within students”.

Janhavi Kotian Rai, Principal

A chemistry and education alumna of Mumbai University, Janhavi Rai has been associated with the school since inception and was appointed principal in 2005. A karate black belt with diplomas in yoga and advanced Ayurveda, Rai is the school’s driving force having shaped and developed its holistic education philosophy which focuses equally on academic rigour and sports and co-curricular education. A champion of women’s empowerment, she is committed to delivering values-based education to develop independent and confident young men and women ready to assume leadership positions in society.

Parasnath Rammurti Rai, Chairman

A humanities alum of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh), Parasnath Rammurti Rai is the visionary founder-chairman of the Rammurti Education Society which manages the St. Xaviers group of three schools in Maharashtra with an aggregate enrolment of 10,000 students. Also president of the Bombay Productivity Council established by the Union ministry of industry, Rai has helped develop St. Xavier’s English High School, Thane into a progressive 21st century K-12 institution.

Campus Infrastructure

Located in Thane’s peaceful Brahmand suburb, the school’s green eight-acre campus offers state-of-the-art academic and sports facilities. They include 75 well-ventilated classrooms fitted with Smart boards, two audio visual classrooms equipped with LCD projectors, three science labs, a computer lab with 125 personal computers offering wi-fi access and a multimedia library equipped with 7,000 resource books (fiction and non-fiction), 12 journal subscriptions, and over 300 CDs and DVDs.

Co-curricular and Sports Education

Committed to holistic education, St. Xavier’s offers excellent sports and co-curricular infrastructure. The campus houses indoor and outdoor sports facilities with experienced professionals coaching students in several sports disciplines including athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket and rifle shooting. The school also boasts a 1,000-seat auditorium, multi-purpose hall, well-equipped art, music and dance studios, an infirmary with two full-time nurses and doctor on call and two full-time counsellors.

St. Xavier’s English High School and Jr. College is a Maharashtra state board-affiliated K-12 co-educational day school. The school admits pre-primary students in January, primary students in March and secondary students in May.
