Students from Mizoram state reach IIM Rohtak for Yuva Sangam under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat

A team of 24 students and 4 faculty members from Mizoram state arrived today at New Delhi. On arrival, they were welcomed by welcomed and received by Indian Institute of Management Rohtak who is the nodal institute for Haryana state for this initiative and later interacted with Governor of Haryana, Bandaru Dattatreya in the evening. These students will stay in Haryana Yuva Sangam under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme for the duration of 6 days.

Dattatreya welcomed the students of Mizoram to Haryana state. He encouraged the students to consider this Yuva Sangam as an opportunity to learn and discover the diverse culture, history, and spirit of Haryana state. He added that this opportunity will inculcate the spirit of cultural awareness and nationalism among the youngsters of north east and rest of India. The students can embrace the best practices and experiences of each other through various cultural, social, and educational engagements during their stay. He wished them to make the most out of this programme. 

Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme of Govt. of India aims to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing. IIM Rohtak will carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured exchange in the areas of culture, traditions, tourism & cuisine, and sharing of best practices with the students from Mizoram. The Yuva Sangam will provide an immersive, multidimensional experience of various facets-under four broad areas of Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect). The students during their visit will stay at IIM Rohtak campus. They will visit cultural, historical, and social locations of the state like RakhiGarhi, Ancient Mound Amin, Brahma Sarovar and Jyotisagar in Kurukshetra, various locations in Chandigarh, Sultanpur National Park, and Gurugram Cyber Hub among various other places. IIM Rohtak has also organised cultural programmes and interactions with the faculty members and students of IIM Rohtak during their stay. 

Director IIM Rohtak, Prof. Dheeraj Sharma welcomed the students to the campus. During his interaction, he said, “EBSB is an excellent initiative that makes us realise that we all have more in common than we think. Cultural differences should not separate us from each other as they are our strength. Cultural diversity draws us closer. World would be monotonous if we all were the same. Therefore, Intercultural dialogue like EBSB is a great mechanism to ensure a compassionate, peaceful, fair, and sustainable world.” 

Prof. Koustab Ghosh, Dean Academics said, “We as an institute of national importance always reach out to various sections of students including from J&K and north east in order to provide them an IIM experience. Like every year we train about 70 girl students from J&K as summer interns in our campus for six weeks’ time. This time again as part of EBSB we are hosting 25 students from Mizoram and will attempt to provide them an enriching experience that they would carry along with them. We welcome more such immersion programmes in future.”
