Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts, averred, “Bullying is an ill practice which lowers the self-esteem and confidence of the students; therefore, we must stop it at any cost. Amity has always stood up against bad practices which are prevalent in the society, bullying being one of them. We, at Amity, strongly believe that it is the youth of the country who must raise their voice against all social evils and practices which exist today in the society and this initiative is a big step towards bringing a change in the society.”
Samaya Chauhan, student of Class IX, Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, stated, “We, the students of Amity International School, Push Vihar, aim to bring about a revolutionary change in the way bullying is handled by students. We have undertaken several initiatives to stop bullying and with the support of our teachers, we are working towards spreading awareness about bullying and helping the students who go through bullying.”
Dr. Sampurna Guha, Assistant Professor, Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, said, “Bullying is one of the most common types of abuse individuals go through and the scars of mental, emotional, and physical exploitation are engraved so deeply in their minds that they end up questioning their own individuality. Students must not tolerate any act of bullying and must report any such instances to the concerned authority. Spreading awareness and taking a stand against bullying is the need of the hour as bullying affects the mental health of students, often leading them to suffer from anxiety and depression.”
The vibrant school students went around the campus and encouraged University students to pledge against bullying and spread awareness. In order to have greater community outreach, various sessions have also been conducted in blind schools, orphanages, shopping malls, NGOs, traffic signals, workplaces and other public places all over Delhi, by the students of Amity.
