The CBSE section has classes from playgroup through grade XII while the Cambridge section has classes for grades 1 to 5.
Pre-primary
At the pre-primary level, the teaching-learning process is non-formal and wholly student-centred. Audio-visual aids, models, pictorial materials are used as tools to nurture and boost the imagination of the tiny tots. These methods not only develop the ability to listen but also helps children understand the concepts better. Kids are encouraged to come up with different ideas and are given the freedom to explore.
The school is also launching the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) from the UK for the pre-primary classes. The internationally acclaimed IEYC is a research-based early childhood curriculum that addresses the developmental needs of 2 to 5 year olds.
Grade I to II: The teaching-learning process at primary school is designed to infuse joy of learning and to foster innate curiosity in children through concrete hands-on learning experiences. At this level, a healthy balance is maintained between academics and activities, with the focus moving a bit more towards academics.
Grades III to VII: Project Based Learning is followed at this stage to equip students with the 21st century skills and intelligences. Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. It helps create independent thinkers as children delve deeper into the projects initiated by the mentors but led by themselves.
Grades VIII-XII: At this stage, academics is a very important part of a child’s life. There are grade-wise focus areas, experts talks are regularly organised to help students get a real feel of the concepts. Field work, peer teaching and student-led projects are the distinguishing features of the teaching-learning process at this stage.
Good communication skills are promoted through the Reading Program, Speak to Lead Club and a well-stocked class and school library. Leadership skill, which is a part of the 21st century skills, is honed through different programmes such as community services, an active student council, yearly excursions and AFS intercultural Programs.
To help students make well-informed career choices, the school also offers a career counseling programme – UDAAN- right from Grade IX. Both parents and students participate in the program and the parents are updated about the activities during frequent interactions. It includes a Goal Setting session for each grade wherein parents are also involved.
Professional development of teachers
The school accords high importance to the professional development of its teaching faculty. During the past ten months of Covid-19 pandemic-induced school closure, all the teachers of Suchitra Academy have completed more than 146 virtual training sessions.
The school’s principal and the vice-principal have completed a management and leadership course from Harvard. The Head of Senior School has also completed a Design Thinking course from Tata Institute of Social Sciences; reflective writing from Thinking Teachers Organization, Understanding Child Development through Coursera and assessment and learning pathways for primary students from Highr. The coordinators are pursuing a three-month leadership course from the Teacher Training Foundation.
Co-curricular education
Driven by the vision of providing holistic education to children, the school offers a plethora of co-curricular activities (CCA). Children get to experience all segments important for whole experience from Sports, Visual Arts and Performing arts. Badminton, swimming, Basketball, Cricket, Soccer, Sculpting, Pottery, Violin, Drums, Bharatnatyam, Gymnastics, Yoga, Contemporary Dance (to name a few) all come under the umbrella of CCA. Children get to choose one activity from each segment while fulfiles the school’s philosophy of nurturing the body, mind and spirit. Special Activity Coordinator and Physical Director monitor the learning outcomes and level of engagement.

Academic Session:
March to November for Playgroup to Grade VIII
February to September for Grades IX, X, XII

The school offers admissions throughout the academic year for transfer cases with valid documents from the previous school.
Suchitra Academy, Hyderabad is ranked among the top co-ed day schools in India by the EducaionWorld India School Rankings 2021-22.
In the 2020 CBSE class XII board exam, the very first batch of Grade XII school-leaving students averaged 86.3 percent. While the topper secured 96.6 percent, 24 percent of the students secured 95 percent and above.
In the 2020 CBSE class X board exam, the school average was 79.7 percent.
In the ASSET 2019-2020, 64 students by scoring 80 and above percent got selected at the National level and are qualified for the next level talent search test ASSET talent search 2020-21.
Two students won the STEP Olympiad 2019; they secured 1st position at the regional level conducted by The Hindu.
Community Initiatives
Suchitra Academy students regularly visit orphanages, old-age homes, blind schools and government schools to understand how privileged they are and to learn that compassion for others and generosity is a virtue that will stand them in good stead.
The community service projects for this year were:
Students of Grade IX made masks and distributed it among the lesser privileged. In addition, through social media, children spread awareness on using less plastic ( a UN and WWF driven project) and importance of mental wellbeing.
Grades IX and XI also made small video lessons on simple concepts for children of Suchitra Academy’s blue-collar staff and government schools.
Suchitra Academy has a tie up with the Government Primary School, Venallagadda. Students visit the government school and provide items as per the needs of the lesser fortunate children. The students from the government school are also invited for all health checkups organised at Suchitra Academy – eye, dental and overall physical check-ups. They are also invited for the various programmes conducted at the school.
Being a day school, Suchitra Academy does not offer accommodation facility.
