Sunbeam School, Lahartara, Varanasi is an English medium, co-educational school founded in 2002.The first Sunbeam School was established in Bhagwanpur, Varanasi in 1972 by Dr. Amrit Lal Ishrat Madhok and Deesh Ishrat Madhok, with the objective of providing high quality education to the students in Varanasi. Subsequently, several branches of the school sprouted up in other locations in the city such as Annapurna, Lahartara, Varuna, Indiranagar and Suncity.
Says a school spokesperson, “The school maintains a delicate balance between modern evaluation and traditional modes of evaluation. Here, the students learn the value of the purpose of life, the natural world and the spiritual values”. The school strives to maintain a high teacher-student ratio with 2000 students and 135 faculty members on its campus currently.
The school campus offers numerous facilities such as multimedia rooms, spacious and well equipped labs for science, math and language; the junior and the senior libraries, well stocked with books on varied subjects.
Sunbeam School is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offers classes from playgroup to class XII. For the junior school, various well researched kindergarten programmes are followed, besides a variety of assessment methods including languages, mathematics, science and technology, visual arts, drama and personal, social and physical technologies.
At middle school level, students are encouraged to develop their interpersonal skills for facilitating cooperation and teamwork, which in turn fosters personal responsibility, sensitivity towards environment, openness and tolerance towards different cultural traditions. Building on the foundation laid in the previous years, senior class students are encouraged to develop the knowledge, research and critical thinking skills essential for successful participation in the senior secondary curriculum.
Extracurricular:
The students are encouraged to pursue a wide range of extracurricular activities at their leisure time such as vocal music, elocution-debating, art and craft, painting, electronics, sculpture, yoga, recitation, poetry writing, story writing, and various forms of dance.

The child should have completed 2 years and 6 months for admission into pre-kindergarten. Apart from academic performance, the conduct in previous classes and regularity in attendance will also be taken into consideration for admission. Only students of ICSE/CBSE affiliated English medium schools are eligible for admission. Admission is subject to the discretion of the management.
It is compulsory for the selected students to appear for the interview and counseling session. (Timings will be displayed on the notice board along with the results).
The seat gets automatically cancelled if admission is not taken within 7 days of the declaration of results.
