In an effort to cultivate innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in mutually beneficial projects, Tata Steel recently formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park (REP). This strategic collaboration, outlined in the agreement, encompasses diverse areas such as materials processing and modeling, energy and environment, as well as low carbon steel production and circular economy initiatives. The signing ceremony for the MoU took place during the 100-Cube Start-up conclave on February 11, with the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship.
Tata Steel’s CEO & MD, TV Narendran, emphasized that this MoU strengthens their partnership with IIT Bhubaneswar, allowing them to collaboratively explore solutions for sustainable steel-making and advanced materials. Recognizing the significant potential of Indian startups led by youth, Narendran highlighted that collaboration with industry plays a crucial role in transforming innovative ideas from academic and research institutes into scalable applications.
Acknowledging the commendable initiative of the government through the 100-Cube program to promote Odisha’s entrepreneurial spirit and contribute to building a technologically advanced and innovative India, Narendran expressed his optimism about the positive impact of the collaboration. Beyond this, Tata Steel‘s collaboration with IIT Bhubaneswar REP extends to joint research initiatives, technology transfer, and support for the startup ecosystem, building upon their prior collaboration in the field of battery research.
