A teacher at a government primary school in Kaushambi district was suspended on Monday after being charged with making indecent remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media.

The suspension order was issued by Basic Education Officer Kamlemdra Kushwaha against the teacher, Varsha. According to Kushwaha, the action was taken after reviewing Varsha’s social media post, which led to an official complaint being lodged at Kokhraj police station. As a result, a case was registered against her on Sunday night under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 505(2) (statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred, or ill-will between classes), and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), as well as provisions of the IT Act.

The Kokhraj Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that the police took cognizance of the matter on Sunday night and proceeded with the necessary legal actions.
