Teachers' Day 2022: President to confer National Awards to Teachers

A total of 75 teachers from across the country have been chosen to receive the National Teachers’ Award, which will be presented to them by President Droupadi Murmu on September 5, according to Ministry of Education officials.

The selected recipients consist of 50 school teachers, 13 educators from higher education institutions, and 12 from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The primary objective of the National Teachers’ Award is to recognize and celebrate the exceptional contributions made by teachers in the country. These teachers, through their unwavering dedication and commitment, have not only elevated the quality of education but have also positively impacted the lives of their students,” stated a senior MoE official.

Each award includes a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 50,000, and a silver medal. In addition, awardees will have the opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the official added.

For years, the MoE has organized a national-level event on Teachers’ Day to confer the National Awards to the country’s most outstanding teachers. The selection process is rigorous and transparent.

Beginning this year, the scope of the National Teachers’ Award has been expanded to include educators from the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Among the selected teachers, the highest number comes from Gujarat (5), followed by Karnataka and Maharashtra, each with four awardees. Three teachers from each of the following states have been selected for the award: Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.

Notable awardees from Gujarat include Deepak Jethalal Mota, Ritaben Nikeshchandra Fulwala, Mehta Zankhana Dilipbhai, Indranath Sengupta, and Satya Ranjan Acharya.

Awardees from Karnataka include Narayan Parmeshwar Bhagwat, Sapna Shrishail Anigol, SR Mahadeva Prasanna, and Dinesh Babu J, while those from Maharashtra are Chandragouda Raosaheb Patil, Raghavan B. Sunoj, Mrinal Nandkishor Ganjale, and Keshav Kashinath Sangle.

In addition to these, two CBSE teachers from Delhi and Meerut, two teachers from Kendriya Vidyalaya (Kerala and Indore), one from Navodaya Vidyalaya in Madhya Pradesh, one from Eklavya Model Residential School in Madhya Pradesh, and one from a CISCE (Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations) school in Punjab have also been selected to receive the award.
